Ingredients that you are likely to need for making Portuguese desserts at home- Arroz Doce

Simple steps to follow for making popular Portuguese dessert- Arroz Doce

Making a typical Portuguese rice pudding is not hard and as long as you have gone through the steps we have penned down for you, at your fingertips, you can enjoy this dessert anytime you want.

Take a large pan first in which you are planning to make the dessert. Pour the lemon rind and some rice into the pan. Cover the rice with boiling Water. Ensure that all the grains are nicely soaked in it.

Bring everything to a boil in the pan and then set it on simmer for about ten minutes for best results. There will certainly be excess liquid in the pan so you need to drain the extra water as well. Let the rice remain to which you now need to add the milk. Do not turn the heat on high or you might end up burning the milk and burning the bottom.

At this point when you observe some bubbling in the liquid, the elements like sugar and salt need to be poured into it. Again bring everything to a boil and then reduce the flames to low or medium. Simmering is an essential step and it should not be skipped if you are looking to make the best Portuguese rice pudding in the whole world.

Stirring is essential even during simmering as you do not want the ingredients to stick to the bottom. In the stagnated liquid, on exposure to heat, the solid particles can remain stuck to the bottom as they are supposedly heavier.

Now whisk the egg white that you need for the mixture. Drop a few grains of rice into the beaten eggs as well. Now stir the eggs and then pour them into the pan. The liquid will continue to thicken over time so there is no need for you to get anxious. However, stir it again and again otherwise it shall be a mess.

To make the rice pudding and allow it to slowly simmer and thicken over low heat is likely to take about thirty to forty minutes. And that is how your delicious and hearty dessert of Portuguese origin shall be ready in no time.

We just shared with you the recipes, the small tips, and our experience making rice pudding at home. However, popular Portuguese desserts are not limited to a single or a few recipes. The list is long, my friend.

As the pudding gradually cools down, the consistency of the mixture will certainly get reduced and a thick soupy broth shall be produced in a few hours. So what are you waiting for?
