Whether it's Christmas or not, you can try out these hearty and delectable cookies whenever you want. Crispy, soft, and tender, the gingerbread cookies are super easy to make, not like how difficult they seem on the forefront.

Flavored with brown molasses and browned sugar, cookies like these are simply lovely. Decoration is our favorite part and we would love to skip it all and head to the garnishing but let's not do that. Slow but steady, we'll get there.

Simple ingredients to make gingerbread man at home- Best Ginger Dessert

  • Molasses and spices- This adds flavor and seasoning to the cookies.
  • Eggs- These are used as a leavening agent.
  • Brown sugar- This is added to give a delectable taste and brilliant hue to the dessert.

Steps to make gingerbread cookies at home

If you are not sure about making gingerbread cookies then here are some tips and simple instructions that can ease your job.

Let's walk you through the process as we tried baking gingerbread man so many times and it always turned out good.

  • Chilling the dough first- Once you have kneaded the dough, it is time for you to rest the dough for about three hours at least. This will ensure that the gluten is blended well and the ingredients are allowed to mingle well. Chilling overnight gives the best result in fact.
  • Next, it is time to wrap the dough- Use a plastic wrapper to cover the dough while you set it away for chilling. Flatten it into a disc and then cover it with a wrapper for best results.
  • How to roll it out- In this step we are going to focus on rolling the desserts. After the process of chilling, you need to create a cylindrical structure out of it. Now pinch off small balls of dough and then roll it into flat sheets. It's time to use the cookie cutters, pal.

Honestly, this is our favorite part of making gingerbread cookies. If it is not Christmas, you do not have to get the typical small male figurines. You are in fact, free to use your imagination and create whatever shapes you prefer. These cookies will not spread, that is not something you need to worry about. But ensure there is enough space between the two cookie pieces. This will ensure that your cookies find space to at least get inflated and rise. One-inch distance is good enough.

Let's decorate now

Finally, the favorite part! You can now decorate the cookies the way you want. However, once down with baking, bring out the baking dish and let the cookies cool down. Decorating these cookies is super easy and you can even ask your kids to help you out.

Simple steps and instructions to make gingerbread cookies at home

Take a large bowl and whisk a couple of ingredients in it. This includes flour, baking soda, ginger, salt, cinnamon, cloves and allspice. Then set the bowl aside for a few minutes.

Next up, you need a handheld mixer to accomplish the task. Beat the butter for a few minutes. This is done along with molasses and brown sugar. Some beaten eggs and vanilla are added to the bowl as well. Give everything a good stir as you won't like to have lumps in the mixture. Flour and all the dry ingredients are added to the wet ingredients bowl.

After the dough has been cooled for three hours, preheat the oven. This is done at 350°F. Lay the parchment paper on the baking sheet and place the shaped dough on the sheet. You don't need much time to bake the cookies. This shall take about eleven to fifteen minutes. The longer you bake, the harder the cookies shall be! Hence we are careful about the duration of baking.

After the cookies have cooled down, decorate them and serve the cookies fresh and perfect for the holiday mood. If you have extra cookies and wish to save them then freeze them in an airtight container. This way the cookies shall stay fresh for about three months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator and enjoy fresh and crispy the next morning. Wish you good luck!
